Housing cooperative societies and flat owners in Goa have no legal right to transfer or sell dwellings or land on which houses have been built. They have been suffering on account of this legal situation.
In a bid to repair this, the govt of Goa has decided to change Goa Cooperative Society’s Act giving them this legal right.
Goa Cooperation minister has said the state cabinet would approve the amended act soon. According to the minister, the builders in the state had shown no consideration for the flat owners.
Sources say the Goa govt has set up a task force committee to find out the actual conditions of housing cooperative societies in Goa. The govt. also plans to frame a law that would protect the interests of the flat owners, add the sources.
