Recently the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court mooted an excellent idea that the judgments should be brief by resisting the temptation to reproducing in detail the views of the Apex court in decide cases on similar issues. The implications of this cannot be imagined today.
The space saved on the server to keep such judgment, the time saved to access it and deciding further action all this will go a long way in rendering the faster justice system it will be a case of huge opportunity last if full advantage of technology is not integrated in to the justice delivery system.
The high court in this case reportedly allowed just four weeks, to get an order of protection from the Supreme Court in the matter of redevelopment project in Worli that is said to include 85-storey twin towers allegedly obstructed by handful of members. If they cannot meet the dead line of four weeks to get redressal from Apex Court they shall vacate their flats by the end of four weeks.
The Bombay high court has refused to grant any interim order halting a mega-redevelopment. The Court observed :
“Considering the redevelopment scheme in its entirety, at this stage we are of the view that it cannot be stalled on the plea raised by the petitioners occupying different buildings on the plot,“ the judges said. “Out of 192 members, 179 members are in favour of redevelopment. The delay in redevelopment of such a project would be detrimental to the interest of the members of the society.“
The plot on Annie Besant Road houses 12 buildings constructed by Mhada in the 1950s.The resident families, who are members of the Worli Shiv Shahi Housing Society , have been paid over Rs 26 lakh in advance rent, said the developers.
The developer reportedly said work had stopped as the petitioners who refused to leave were in Building 5 and Building 6.
