A district consumer court in Kerala has ruled that the consumer protection Act covers even the cooperative bodies. The ruling is being seen as expansion of the consumer protection Act.
However, the Kerala state consumer cooperative federation had challenged the competence of the consumer court.
One Mr Pramod had filed a complaint that the two cooperative bodies are refusing him a refund even when he is discontinuing his consumer relationship with them.
Attempt to take NCCF Chairman’s view on the matter failed as his phone was unreachable when this correspondent tried to contact him.
