Kribhco signs MoU with Novonesis for advanced biological solutions

Aiming to transform Indian agriculture, Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO), a leading fertilizer cooperative, and Novonesis, a global pioneer in biological solutions, have joined forces to enhance crop yields and improve soil health through sustainable agricultural practices.

KRIBHCO and Novonesis have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a long-term collaboration to develop and introduce innovative agricultural bio-solutions in India. This partnership will initially focus on offering Indian farmers a cutting-edge Mycorrhizal Biofertilizer, “KRIBHCO Rhizosuper,” which incorporates Novonesis’ proprietary LCO (Lipo-chitooligosaccharides) Promoter Technology.

The first phase of this initiative will make the advanced biofertilizer available to farmers across India. Powered by Novonesis’ innovative technology, KRIBHCO Rhizosuper contains a unique blend of endomycorrhizal species combined with LCO Promoter Technology.

This combination accelerates mycorrhizal colonization, enhances microbial activity in the rhizosphere, and improves plant growth and soil quality. Additionally, it optimizes the effectiveness of applied phosphatic fertilizers, water, and other nutrients, complementing KRIBHCO’s longstanding role as a major supplier of agricultural nutrition in India.

LCO is a critical signalling molecule that improves communication between plants and soil microbes, significantly boosting nutrient absorption and plant health. Given India’s ongoing agricultural challenges—such as low soil carbon, poor fertilizer practices, and unpredictable weather patterns—LCO offers a much-needed solution to enhance the natural processes of crop growth and resilience.

Commenting on the partnership, KRIBHCO Managing Director, Mr. M.R. Sharma, expressed optimism about the positive impact on Indian farmers. “This collaboration marks the beginning of a new era for Indian agriculture. With KRIBHCO Rhizosuper, farmers will not only see higher yields and better soil quality but will also contribute to the movement towards sustainable farming. The health of our soil is intrinsically linked to the prosperity of our nation, and this partnership empowers farmers to protect both their crops and our land for future generations.”

Similarly, Mr. Krishna Mohan Puvvada, Senior Vice President for the Middle East, India, and Africa at Planetary Health Biosolutions, Novonesis, highlighted the significance of biosolutions in addressing agricultural challenges. “We are thrilled to work with KRIBHCO to bring innovative biofertilizers to Indian farmers. By reducing reliance on chemicals and rejuvenating soil health, we aim to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure food security in the face of climate change.”

The partnership draws on KRIBHCO’s vast agricultural expertise and distribution network, paired with Novonesis’ scientific leadership in biological solutions, ensuring a collaborative approach to advancing sustainable farming practices in India.
