Prem Chandra Munshi, the lone Director on the Board of largest farmers’ cooperative IFFCO from Bihar is touring remote areas of the state sharing secrets of raising farm output.
Talking to Indian Cooperative on phone from Bihar Munshi said “ I am so pressed for time, I have yet to cover two large districts Bhagalpur and Patna before March 31st.
Last time he was spotted at Forbesganj conducting a seminar on soil rejuvenation and corn[makka] production. It was ” Middle school campus at Mhathawa in Bhargama block of Araria district, his Face Book post read.
Earlier in the day, he visited Hanumanganj Sirsia PACS with Joint Registrar cooperative societies Virendra Thakur and IFFCO officials Ajai Singh and Rajendra Yadav.
I will cover all the districts of the state before the financial year closing on 31st March, informed Munshi. Bihar is a vast state even after the division and I must be in these two important districts, he added.
Last week Munshi presided over a crop seminar at Maner, a place famous for its laddoos. The Joint Registrar, Deputy Registrar, agricultural scientists and several IFFCO officers accompanied him to Maner.
IFFCO’s directors have been active in fields asking farmers to exercise caution on the issue of excessive dependence on urea and related matters even in the past but the emergence of the social media scene has brought their activities in the limelight.
The emerging media-be it print or electronic are getting increasingly dependent on social media to fish for news inputs and journalists are being drafted by media houses to keep tabs on the new sources lest they should miss out on big happenings.
Unfortunately, cooperative and its leaders are slow in realizing the vast potential of the emerging media as only a handful of them are found on Twitter or FB. If they do not compete here, would they be able to realize their goal of establishing the primacy of cooperative in society?
