Resuming his virtual tour to IFFCO’s different manufacturing units spread across the country, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi visited Phulpur Unit located in Uttar Pradesh last week and took stock of the situation.
During his visit, IFFCO MD interacted with the employees of the plant and exchanged ideas. Officials discussed strategies to be adopted to take the fertilizer cooperative to newer heights.
The idea of virtual tour has set an example for corporates as well as cooperatives to follow during the Covid times. Awasthi visited various sections of the manufacturing units and also interacted with the young professionals.
Sharing the details of his visit through social media, he wrote “As a part of my virtual visit to Phulpur unit. I interacted with the office bearers of employees’ union and officers’ association of the Phulpur unit. Discussed various issues to ensure smooth working while maintaining safety of all”.
The IFFCO MD was connected from his office located in Saket, Delhi. Calling it one of its kind experiments for doing communication one of the officials from the Phulpur Unit said, ” In the Coronavirus pandemic it is difficult for people to travel different locations and see the working but the latest technology has made it easy to communicate with the officials ‘. He called Awasthi an innovator par excellence.
Giving details of his tour IFFCO MD said his virtual visit also involved interaction with the members of the local & national press. “I discussed the way forward for IFFCO and our operations strategy during the pandemic”, added Awasthi. G K Gautam, Technical Head and one of the Functional Directors of IFFCO was also a part of the MD’s team.
Readers would recall that earlier, the IFFCO MD had toured virtually Aonla Unit and overseen the working of the plant during Covid-19. The news has caught the fancy of many co-operators who lauded MD for his penchant for innovative ideas.
IFFCO has five plants at Kalol, Kandla, Phulpur, Aonla and Paradeep in India and two units overseas. Apart from its core fertiliser business, IFFCO has also diversified into General Insurance, Rural Retail, Farm Forestry, Rural Telecom, Agrochemicals and others.
