In a function organized on the occasion of record production of urea in the country, IFFCO in general and its MD Dr U S Awasthi in particular received appreciation from the two Union Ministers- Radha Mohan Singh and Anant Kumar.
The occasion was media address on the highest ever production of urea in the country since independence. India has recorded a production of 245 lakh MT in the year 2015-16 which is about 20 lakh MT more than the last year’s production.
Speaking on the occasion Union Radha Mohan Singh said on the issue of balanced fertilization and soil health the one name that crops up in mind instantly is IFFCO. He narrated a personal experience to buttress his point.
”When I went to Anantnag in J&K I found a lone mobile soil-testing van of IFFCO doing its job away from public attention- and this is a story I have shared with my audience on umpteen occasions, Singh added.
When the turn of Union Minister Ananth Kumar came he also liberally admired IFFCO MD Dr Awasthi. He said
Appreciating the role of cooperatives in the field of fertilizer-production in the country Kumar also named others including Rakesh Kapoor, Joint MD of IFFCO for their contributions.
Feeling humbled IFFCO MD later tweeted “?#IFFCO thanks @AnanthKumar_BJP @RadhamohanBJP for appreciating #IFFCO in #fertiliser efficiency & #farmer services at ground level @PMOIndia”.
Ananth Kumar attributed the success of record urea production to the new Urea policy implemented since last year. He also mentioned the visionary leadership and reform oriented action plan of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this occasion.
The Minister also listed milestone achievements of the department including Neem Coating of urea, Adequate availability of fertilizers, City Compost and Promoting SSP production.
Later talking to Indian Cooperative IFFCO PR Head Harshendra Vardhan said “we are grateful to the ministers who have reposed faith in IFFCO. We assure them of our constant efforts to increase urea production under the able leadership of our MD.”
