Excerpts from the Letter
Dear Friends,
We all are aware that the world is in the grip of the biggest crisis of the Century, in the form of the global pandemic ‘COVID-19’. Several developed and mighty nations have been fighting this pandemic with all their resources. But the crisis is yet to see its end. India is also facing this unprecedented crisis with massive challenges.
We, as a nation, have to gear up and mobilize our resources within the shortest possible time. This requires financial resources of great proportions. The Government of India and the State Governments are mobilizing their available resources to fight this crisis. However, it is time for all of us to contribute financially to the extent we can. The Hon’ble Prime Minister has set up a fund for this purpose called “PM CARES FUND” and he has appealed to all the countrymen to contribute to this fund.
Your society, IFFCO has always come forward at the time of crisis. We have always delivered our best to the nation.
Friends, to fight against this crisis and strengthen the war against COVID19, I appeal to all the employees of IFFCO, its Subsidiaries and JVs to come forward and contribute one day’s Salary (Basic + DA) to the PM-CARES Fund so that we can give strength to the Disaster Management activities and encourage the R&D in Health Management for protecting the citizens of our country. An amount equivalent to the Employees’ contribution will be contributed by IFFCO or the respective Subsidiary/ JV company from either its Farmers Development Fund or CSR Fund.
The Directors on the Board of IFFCO, its Subsidiaries and JVs are requested to agree to contribute their sitting fee for the next Board meeting to this Fund.
Together, we need to contribute towards this Relief Fund as i it is the most terrible and stressful time, which the country is passing through.
I hope that everyone will support this noble cause for the country. Let us all come together and stand by our countrymen. Let us make a healthier, happier and prosperous India.
I assume that everyone is willing to contribute. However, if someone does not want to contribute then please let us know on or before 5 pm of 31st March 2020.
We propose to send this contribution to the PM-CARES Funds on 1st or 2nd April, 2020. Hence this deduction will happen only in the salary for the month of April 2020, and the equivalent contribution of IFFCO and its Subsidiaries/ JV companies would be debited to their Accounts for the financial year 2020-21.
My best wishes to all of you, and please take care of yourself and your family.
Dr. U. S. Awasthi
