Mr Shiv Pal Singh Yadav, the Cooperation Minister of Uttar Pradesh flagged off the truck carrying the IFFCO relief material for quake victims in Nepal. This was informed by a tweet of IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi on Friday.
Each packet of relief material contains grains , clothes-sarees and dhotis and other essentials that a family would require to sustain itself for a while, shared IKST Board member Ramachandran who had come all the way from Tamil Nadu to attend IKST Board meeting.
A meeting of IFFCO Kisan Sewa Trust was called last week in a huff to work out the modalities. Readers would recall that IFFCO had pledged to help the victims of the worst quake that claimed staggering toll in Nepal. The cooperative’s arm IFFCO Kisan Sewa Trust (IKST) is at the forefront dispatching relief materials.
Expressing his sympathy IFFCO Managing Director Dr. U S Awasthi had expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the victims and promised to help.
Working towards cooperative to cooperative interaction IFFCO is distributing the relief materials through the apex cooperative body of Nepal called Nepal Cooperative Federation NCF as the MD tweeted earlier “ This material will be distributed in consultation with #nepal #cooperative federation (NCF)”.
The National Cooperative Federation of Nepal is the apex body of the cooperative movement representing about 27,000 cooperatives operating throughout the country. The NCF is also a member of International Cooperative Alliance, ICA.
