Lauding IFFCO in general and its MD Dr U S Awasthi in particular the State Cooperation Minister of Bihar Alok Kumar Mehta said the cooperative giant is doing a wonderful job for the state and the govt is always eager to help it.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Mehta said IFFCO already has impressive presence in the state. “It is matter of pride for us that the biggest player in the field of fertilizer has come calling to our state. I had to come to see him”, he added.

IFFCO is a major supplier of fertilizer in the state and according to a report it supplies more than 7 lakh metric tones of urea each year to the farmers of Bihar. Its MD Dr U S Awasthi is currently on tour to the state. He is likely to go to remote areas in the state meeting farmers and cooperators alike.

“IFFCO has already penetrated the countryside in the state. Our government would cooperate with IFFCO in deepening this penetration further”, said Co-operation Minister Alok Kumar Mehta.

Other Ministers who had come to greet Awasthi were also appreciative of IFFCO’s role in the state. Madan Mohan Jha, the Revenue Minister who is close to IFFCO Director Premchand Munhsi said the govt would not fail in contributing its bit to IFFCO’s efforts in improving the lot of farmers.

IFFCO MD through his ”connect farmers campaign” aims to meet around four crore farmers and visit about 36 thousand co-op societies in the country in its Golden Jubilee Year.
