Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative IFFCO organized a seminar on cashless transactions for farmers which was attended by two Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Suresh Prabhu last week in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh.
Sharing this information, Managing Director of IFFCO Dr U S Awasthi tweeted that “Glad to share that Shri @RadhamohanBJP @sureshpprabhu participated in a seminar of #farmers to promote cash less transactions in agriculture”.
Addressing the gathering of farmers on this occasion, Radha Mohan Singh said demonetization will have long term benefits for the farmers of the country. The telecom company Airtel is opening Mobile Accounts of farmers with the help of Adhar Card and their money in bank accounts will be transferred to these accounts, Singh added.
Readers would recall a story in these columns about how the résistance of secretaries of milk unions associated with GCMMF melted in the wake of demonetization.
Sharing details of the Dadri event, Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh wrote on social media “ I and the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhujee attended the programme organized by IFFCO in Dadri to promote cashless transactions facility”.
In his address Suresh Prabhu said the farmers who take initiative of cashless transactions will not have to stand in queue of banks but they need to be made aware of it.
Prabhu wrote on his twitter wall “At an event in Dadri, UP to promote #cashless transactions in agriculture with @RadhamohanBJP ji. Encouraging response by farmers, others.
In next tweet Prabhu wrote “Commendable step to facilitate #Cashless Economy. Farmers to be benefited. A step towards Digital Economy, Inclusion”.
On this occasion Airtel officials also opened accounts of about 10 farmers. With the help of these cards farmers can buy IFFCO seeds and fertilizers.
Readers would recall that earlier PM Narendra Modi had directed all ministries and departments to switch to cashless transactions.
IFFCO has started going cashless in its transactions from the year 2014. In the AGM of the year it had put up a stall teaching farmers how to do online transactions as it had begun giving dividend through online transactions.
