State Minister of Fertilizers and Chemicals Mr Srikant Kumar Jena told Parliament on Friday that cooperative giant Iffco would keep its words and deliver fertilizers to fulfill its contractual obligation no matter what be the international scenario.
Mr Jena was replying in Rajya Sabha in written reply to a question pertaining to spiraling prices of fertilizers. Domestic price of fertilizer is likely to be doubled in the wake of falling Rupee in international market couple with rising price of P and K components.

Rising cost of fertilizers has become a major headache for government as it is finding it hard to keep the price line intact in the wake of deteriorating international situation.
Iffco itself has requested its suppliers to give relief of USD 50 per tonne of DAP and USD 45 per tonne of NPK.
Growth of organic fertilizer unfortunately has not kept pace with the demand of farming resulting into heavy dependence on chemical fertilizers.
