Boosting the morale of cooperatives in the country in general and that of IFFCO in particular, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked fertilizer cooperative- IFFCO for giving the contribution of Rs 25 crore to the PM Cares Fund to fight against the Covid-19.
Modi thanked IFFCO by retweeting the IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi tweet on Wednesday. PM wrote, “Great gesture. Thank you to IFFCO. #IndiaFightsCorona”.
The Prime Minister’s response to the IFFCO gesture has greatly cheered up the cooperative circles. “It’s a matter of pride for us as Prime Minister Modi has given us importance and appreciated our efforts in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. We are overwhelmed by Prime Minister Modi’s response “, said IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi to this correspondent on the phone.
Awasthi added that, “It will encourage us to perform better and work in the interest of farmers spread across the country. We are very happy and we are standing with PM Modi at this time of crisis, he said.
Later, the IFFCO MD replied to the PM Modi’s tweet and wrote, “Sir, On behalf of 36000 #Cooperatives and 4 Crore member farmers, we at #IFFCO thank you for your kind acknowledgment & inspiration. #IndiaFightsCarona @narendramodi”.
Besides prime minister Modi, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers D V Sadananda Gowda and Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also thanked IFFCO as soon as the fertilizer cooperative contributed the fund to the PM Cares Fund.
IFFCO Vice-Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani also thanked PM Modi for appreciating the IFFCO efforts. “PM’s appreciation is a boost to the morale of the cooperative behemoth which has been at the receiving end of vested interests from time to time as are other successful ventures in the country”, said Sanghani to Indian Cooperative.
Apart from this monetary contribution, as reported in these columns earlier, IFFCO is also contributing at ground zero by distributing masks, hand sanitisers, disinfectant soaps, Vitamin-C tablets and essential food kits to the farmers and villagers at various places across the country.
IFFCO’s 5 Fertiliser Units in the country are functional and continuously operating in shifts to produce fertilisers and essential soil nutrients so that this pandemic does not affect the agricultural activities of the country.
It bears recall that congratulating IFFCO on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee in 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appreciated its role in ushering in a new India. “
