Rakesh Kapur, the Joint Managing Director of IFFCO has been elected as chairman of Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) for a period of two years, reads a Press Release from PTI.
Discharged from his eye-surgery, the Managing Director of IFFCO Dr U S Awasthi congratulated Mr Kapur on his election to the body of fertilizer lobby FAI. The Board of FAI showcases who’s who of the sector with MDs and Chairmen of practically all major players on its board. IFFCO MD Awasthi is one of them.
An IRS officer, Mr Kapur is popular for his mild manner and friendly disposition. The decision was taken in the board meeting of FAI held recently. Several IFFCO staffs, Indian Cooperative talked to, consider the magic of the duo- Awasthi and Kapur behind IFFCO’s success.
The PTI release reads that IFFCO is the largest fertiliser Cooperative in the world with a turnover of USD 3.5 billion in 2013-14. Kapur will hold charge till next AGM in 2017, FAI said in a statement.
Kapur has replaced S S Nandurdikar as the Chairman of FAI.
The Indian fertiliser sector has a turnover of over Rs 1.3 lakh crore per annum. India is the second largest consumer of fertilisers and third largest manufacturer of fertilisers in the world, reads the Release.
