IFFCO: When journos surround Kumar with questions

Recently promoted and not being used to media interface the way his MD is, IFFCO’s Marketing Director nevertheless fielded questions quite well during a media interaction on the occasion of launch of IFFCO’s ambitious e-commerce app iMandi in Chandigarh on Saturday.

The event drew a huge media presence and was held in one of the upscale addresses of Chandigarh.” It is the brand IFFCO which has attracted such a large number of journalists”, explained Manvendra of PTI to this correspondent.

As TV cameras jostled with each other to take what has come to be known as “Byte” of IFFCO Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar, IFFCO Media Head Harshendra Verdhan and his team members including Naresh Sharma had tough time regulating the series of one-on-one interview.

Yogendra was, however, at his ease with a vast knowledge of fertilizer industry acquired in his long career. As media questions meandered from iMandi to various other aspects of the fertilizer industry Kumar could be seen blurting out data with an all India perspective with a touch of authority.

He also informed the media persons, who sat around him after the formal launch on the dining table about IFFCO’s initiative in the field of neem coated urea. He talked about IFFCO-FRI tie-up and its recent success of producing quick yielding variety which is uncommonly tall.

On persistent questioning from the media persons on a wide range of subjects, Kumar told them how India’s future rides on the application of bio-fertilizers on a large scale. He also mentioned Sagarika in this connection and called it the best in the field.

Last but not least, Kumar also touched upon Nano-fertilizer-a new field about which few know. “2 gram of nano would take care of a hectare of land”, he said to the utter disbelief of assembled media men.

It bears recall that IFFCO launched an ambitious e-commerce app “IFFCO iMandi” aimed at connecting crores of farmers and serving for them as one stop shop for everything they need- buying agri inputs and selling their produce in Chandigarh on Saturday.

Back in Delhi, the man whose life-goal is to bring farmers on one platform, Dr U S Awasthi tweeted happily” I am happy to share that the #IFFCO’s website http://iffcoimandi.in for farmers is now made active & live. The http://iffcobazar.in is now re-directed to the new website i.e. http://wwwiffcoimandi.in”.
