Senior cooperator and Gujcomasol Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani was elected unanimously to the Board of the world’s largest fertilizer cooperative IFFCO on Friday in Delhi. Buoyed up with his victory Sanghani declared a war against poverty with the help of IFFCO.
The fertilizer cooperative had three vacancies for which elections were held on Friday in the presence of returning officer Mr H P Gemini. The other two victors were Dr M.N.Rajendra Kumar from Karnataka State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd. (KSCMF) and Shekhar Vidyarthi from Haryana State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation Ltd (HAFED).

Soon after his elections Sanghani said his new bond with IFFCO would help him fulfill the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of doubling farmers’ income. A close associate of the Prime Minister, Sanghani lauded the role being played by IFFCO in changing the landscape of rural India through its various projects.
IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi who felicitated Sanghani along with the Chairman B S Nakai and Board members tweeted “Today, @Dileep_Sanghani, Chairman #Gujcomasol has been elected on board of #IFFCO. Heartiest Congratulations to Sh. DileepBhai N Sanghani on his election.”

His entry into the IFFCO Board is a significant political development, said a cooperator who felt that it hints at a subtle shift in the balance of power towards BJP in the fertilizer cooperative. Though it was late night when Sanghani reached Ahmadabad after his election to the IFFCO Board on Friday there were surging crowds at the airport to accord him a hero’s welcome. Some of his admirers have shared a few photographs with Indian Cooperative showing a mass of people welcoming their leader at the airport.
