In the wake of the news of the Cabinet nod for the computerization of PACS, the world’s No. 1 Processed Fertiliser Cooperative IFFCO lauded the historic step and called it a game-changer.
In a release issued on Wednesday, the IFFCO said “Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) constitute the lowest tier of the three-tier Short-term cooperative credit (STCC) in the country. The project will bring high-end digital technology to the rural population.”
Computerization or Digitalization of PACS will strengthen the service delivery to farmers especially Small & Marginal Farmers (SMFs) & will also become nodal service delivery point for Interest Subvention Scheme (ISS), PMFBY, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for various services, and provision of inputs like fertilizers, seeds, etc, the release read further.
Reacting to the news Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of IFFCO said that it is a giant step toward PM Modi’s vision of Sahakar se samridhhi with the aim of empowering the Indian farmers & rural India.
Sanghani further said that this project will create transparency and accountability in the operations of PACS thus facilitating them to diversify their businesses and undertake multiple activities & services and will be revolutionary for the development of PACS.
