Co-operative titan IFFCO is leading efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 by organizing “Break the Corona Chain Social Awareness Campaign” on ‘Ground zero’ in different states across the country.
Under the banner of this social awareness campaign over 60 camps were organized. These camps are active among masses on a daily basis highlighting the preventive and precautionary measures among them.
Under this campaign, aspects like Social distancing; sanitization; Maintaining a healthy diet and Prevention through- covering of face by masks / ‘Gamchha’ are being emphasized.
On their part, IFFCO employees are educating people on ways of prevention and containment of Coronavirus at more than 100 touchpoints and sale points, claimed a press release from the IFFCO PR.
Also, over 3.5 Lakh Vitamin-C Tablets, 50,000 medicated soaps, 20,000 masks, 5,000 sanitizers and numerous medical kits were distributed at different locations all across India.
Apart from this, medical equipment for hospital staff and health workers were provided in the places facing a shortage of equipment. IFFCO is using its extensive marketing network to deliver critical goods in areas otherwise hard to access.
Meanwhile, even during the pandemic all of IFFCO’s plants remain fully operational given the critical importance
IFFCO has taken up the responsibility to ensure the safety of these tireless workers, these labourers are given a regular supply of sanitizers, soaps, and masks. Ration kits with food material are also being provided to migrant families and families of labourers in different states. The use of disinfectants and social distancing is regularly in practice at all the IFFCO sale points, warehouses, cooperative societies, e-Bazar outlets, and rake points. IFFCO is also sanitizing the rakes and transportation trucks used for the transportation of fertilizers.
Mr. Yogendra Kumar, Director – Marketing, IFFCO is leading the charge of the campaign in different states. Plant Heads lead the campaign at their respective plants supported by employee unions and officers’ associations.
Honouring the appeal of Prime Minister IFFCO has contributed Rs 25 crore to PM – CARES Fund, which was acknowledged by PM himself. Prime Minister in a tweet thanked IFFCO for its valuable contribution.
Dr U S Awasthi, MD of IFFCO said, “It was an encouragement and inspiration for IFFCO when the Hon’ble Prime Minister acknowledged IFFCO’s contribution. Though financial contribution is very important in the fight against the pandemic, social awareness remains a very important aspect of containing the spread. That is why IFFCO through its employees is contributing in the time of need.”
