IFFCO: Padhy, Prahlad, Amit, Devendra and Sadhana emerge winners

The five heros who could come up trumps in the intensely fought IFFCO elections at the IFFCO Sadan in Delhi on Friday included Padhy, Prahlad Singh, Sadhana Jadhav, Amit Pratap Singh and Devendra Reddy.

It can be called a landslide victory in the case of Simachal Padhy who won the election with the highest number of votes from the constituency which comprised of Odisha and West Bengal. He polled 62 votes out of the total of 69 votes cast. His rival Purohit was way behind with just 7 votes.

Amit Pratap Singh, son of Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Minister Govind Singh proved to be a vote collector polling a whopping 27 votes out of 33. His rival Manju Singh Deo just bagged 6 votes.

From Maharashtra- Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where there were candidates in race it was a wafer thin margin for the winner Devendra Reddy. While Reddy bagged 34 seats his nearest rival Vivek Bipindada Kole had just 3 votes less than him at 31.

Equally intense fights were witnessed in Woman constituency and Haryana-Delhi. Looking serious before the polling Prahlad Singh was a bundle of joy as soon as he was informed that he had won beating Sunil Khatri by 11 votes. Prahlad polled 29 while Khatri could just bag 18. “Tell the world I fought heroically”, said an elated Khatri to this correspondent.

But the most exciting polling was for the woman constituency where a large number of women delegates lined up to choose their leader. It is no small thing that out of 46 voters, 43 turned up to cast votes. And they chose Sadhana Jadhav who polled 27 votes. Her rival Kasturkar bagged 16 votes.

The Returning Officer of IFFCO elections announced the results of the constituencies as soon as the counting of each of them concluded. While uncertainties were write-large on the faces of candidates, the counting was conducted not only before the candidates but also before their supports. The large TV screens showed it all.

While counting was in progress, several delegates, interacting with Indian Cooperative correspondent said such intensity was not visible earlier and they said it is good that the leaders recognize the value of ordinary RGB members.
