After crisscrossing Uttar Pradesh, IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi moved southward and virtually took the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai by storm as thousands of farmers turned out to meet him.
It was an unprecedented sight as one of the IFFCO delegates from Coimbatore Ovr Ramchandran captured the event by pasting his Face Book wall with photographs of MD meeting farmers and employing personal phrases to explain Awasthi’s magic.
An effusive Ramchandran wrote on FB wall” I called our MD father of farmers plus ethics plus economics which becomes “FARMERETHICNOMICS”. Simply put it means Superstar of Farmers”, he added. His peculiar usage of words were however understandable to the audience as they came straight from his heart, said one for IFFCO employees in the team of MD.
Chennai was Dr Awasthi’s 18th destination and he more than compensated for his cancelled visit to the town earlier.
Cooperators from Chennai welcomed Awasthi with flowers and garlands on the occasion of his visit. Later, MD addressed a farmers meeting in the city.
#IFFCO educating farmers #Mobile Banking to buy #agriculture inputs at #Chennai during #50yearsofIFFCO @PMOIndia @RadhamohanBJP @narendramodi , Awasthi wrote on his twitter wall.
As has been his practice if Awasthi had invited ordinary farmers to his meeting he did not forget to bring all the cooperators of the region on one platform. Mingling with farmers and cooperators of different states is his staple diet, said one of the Directors of IFFCO to this correspondent.
In next tweet he wrote “Welcomed & felicitated eminent #cooperators as special guest from #Chennai in #Farmer & #Cooperatives Meet of #IFFCO. #50yearsofIFFCO”.
Later, Dr Awasthi paid tributes to late Rajiv Gandhi and called him the greatest leader of #India who brought modernity into Indian politics.
