chandra babu naidu and u s awsthiIFFCO is trying to revive its Kisan SEZ in Andhra Pradesh. Dr U S Awasthi, the Managing Director of IFFCO met the newly elected Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandra Babu Naidu on Tuesday in this connection.

The meeting reportedly went off very well as a buoyed up MD soon tweeted “ Met #CM AP Sh Naidu . Discussed in detail #iffco Kisan sez plan for development of Andhra Pradesh. Appreciate his gesture of support”.

Earlier, media reports tend to suggest that Iffco has faulted on the issue of non-utilization of a piece of real estate allotted to the fertilizer cooperative major for developing a sophisticated Kisan SEZ in Richarlapadu near Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

But in reality, the IFFCO Kisan SEZ (IKSEZ) land got stuck-up in court since Feb, 2012 due to a litigation pending before Andhra Pradesh High Court. The case was argued in High Court and recently this year in March only, IKSEZ won the case after a long battle in the court.

Although the construction work for Infrastructure development kept on going in the IKSEZ land, it also became operational by virtue of few companies starting exporting their products from IKSEZ.

This meeting of MD with the Naidu is sure to lead to greater activities on the ground, said a source connected with the project. Political clearance is very helpful in such situations, he added.

IFFCO PR Manager Harshendra Vardhan told Indian cooperative “IKSEZ is already in process of exploring more companies to start their projects in the same IKSEZ land. Some of these proposals are in advanced stages of Project implementation”, he added.
