Keeping in with the national mood of the cleanliness drive, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi is trying to explore new generation waste processing facilities in Lithuania-a country in North Europe. Lithuania is one of the three Baltic states located to the east of Sweden and Denmark.
Detailing this Dr Awasthi tweeted “ Met #arvi co of #Lithuania in #Vilnius discussed new gen #Waste Processing Facility4 #Indian situation as possible solution4#Swachh Bharat,”.
Readers would recall that responding to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Swachch Bharat Abhiyan IFFCO had donated Rs 10 crore earlier.
It also launched the campaign in the towns where its units are located. IFFCO’s Phulpur unit launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in which several Iffco employees had participated. The Phulpur unit of IFFCO earlier bagged a prestigious environment award from the government of India.
The disposal of garbage being taught as a full academic discipline as Garbology in several universities in the US is hardly a subject people back home ever focus on. The move by Awasthi to find new generation waste disposal facilities has been lauded by several of his followers.
If each corporate and some of the larger cooperatives take upon themselves the task to clean the towns in which their plants are located, the issue can be tackled easily, felt Kaushal Kishore an environmental activist. He lauded the efforts being put in by IFFCO in this regard.
