IFFCO’s unique experiment of organizing a hybrid kind of AGM is in the last leg of its preparations with more than 113 places across the country getting technologically enabled for the mega event. The AGM would begin from 11 am on Wednesday.
Zoom Apps with a capacity to seamlessly connect 5000 persons is being enabled for the purpose. “We may not need to connect 5000 people but you don’t get any if you have to connect 1000 plus persons”, said IFFCO Director R P Singh underlining the grand preparations underway till Tuesday.
After sending the invitations, the team of Tarun Bhargava is also talking to each and every Director and delegate to know in exact terms how many and who all are joining the AGM, said Singh.
At the IFFCO headquarters it is expected that about 60 persons including Directors and delegates would be coming. “There is a capacity of 180 people but MD Saheb has insisted that following social distancing norms, not more than 60 persons could be accommodated”, said Singh. Inch and tapes have been used to mark a distance of 2 yards, added Singh underling Dr U S Awasthi’s penchant for observing the prescribed rules.
At all these places the Bhargava team has ensured that the AGM gifts meant for delegates reach beforehand. Soon after the AGM, gifts and cash for food would be distributed. “There would be no food but cash-for-food due to the danger of Covid 19”, a top IFFCO official added.
Covid has also failed to prevent us from distributing Dividends as IFFCO plans to electronically transfer dividends as soon as the AGM decides about it, said R P Singh hinting by afternoon members can check their accounts.
While delegates from far flung areas are encouraged to join the nearest AGM points, those from the neighbouring states of Haryana, UP and Rajasthan may come to the IFFCO headquarters in Delhi’s Saket. The number of delegates at the headquarters would not be more than 50, added an official.
It bears recall ending confusion raging among multi state co-ops over how to conduct AGMs, the fertiliser cooperative IFFCO had earlier decided to hold the AGM on 26th August. The decision was necessitated as more than 36 thousand co-ops which are members of IFFCO are dependent on the IFFCO AGM.
Meanwhile, through a communication issued Monday afternoon the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies has also extended the time period for conducting Annual General Meetings (AGM) in Multi-State Cooperative Societies till December 31.
