IFFCO felicitates Sanghani; MD urges Sah Bharati & NCUI to work together

The newly elected President of NCUI, Dileepbhai Sanghani was accorded a warm welcome, when soon after the election results, he came to attend a felicitation event organized for him at the IFFCO headquarters in Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion Sanghani said that “I am IFFCO’s nominee at the NCUI Board and thus the responsibility of all IFFCO members to make their representative succeed in his new job increases many folds.”

Draping him with Shawl, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi said Sanghani was the only co-operator in the country who can end the duality of the co-operative movement (dwand se nirdwand). Awasthi’s meaningful statement was not lost on the assembly.

IFFCO also welcomed other winners who belonged to its fold and they included Pramod Kumar Singh and Arun Tomar. The latter is connected to the IFFCO Kisan Seva Trust. Welcoming Sanghani was the Haryana Minister J P Dalal at the IFFCO headquarters. While Yogendra Kumar Marketing Director anchored the program, Joint MD Rakesh Kapur and Directors R P Singh, G K Gautam, among others were present to welcome the NCUI’s new team.

IFFCO also took special pains to welcome Chandra Pal Singh and others. While many of them could not make it, Chandra Pal did come. Thanking the IFFCO MD profusely, Chandra Pal recalled his long association with Dr U S Awasthi and remembered how Awasthi helped him fight elections when there were five govt nominees in the 90s. “A die-hard votary of democracy in co-operatives, Awasthiji is not seen merely as an MD but as a co-operator par excellence,” said Chandra Pal.

Talking about the new President, Chandra Pal said my greatest satisfaction is that I am leaving the reins of movement to the best hand possible, he said while recounting Dileep Sanghani’s contributions to the co-op movement.

Endorsing Chandra Pal on the IFFCO MD, Sanghani said that he is yet to see a co-op organization as clean and transparent as IFFCO. I have worked at all levels from primary to state to national but the transparent systematic method employed at IFFCO’s activities is matchless, Sanghani said adding that he mentioned the same before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi also.

Not as a Vice-Chairman of IFFCO but as a younger brother I intend to seek Awasthiji’s guidance in achieving my goals, said Sanghani listing various challenges facing the cooperative movement. “If we as co-ops don’t use the Rs 1 crore Infra Fund, govt will find an alternative for the same; we have to reach out to every village and every needy farmer”, he underlined.

We have to rise above the narrow considerations of caste, creed or party loyalties, Sanghani said repeating Modi’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.

Speaking in the last, as desired by Sanghani, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi was a bundle of emotions on Monday. Calling it a historical election, Awasthi said that an opportunity has arrived when NCUI and Sahakar Bharati can work together to take the movement to greater heights.

Referring to Co-operative Flag which consists of seven colours, Awasthi said like a rainbow these colours lose their individuality and become one.

Naming the leaders of Sahakar Bharti individually and naming co-operative doyens such as Chandra Pal and Bijender Singh, Awasthi exhorted all to come together for a brighter future for cooperation. “I am on the wrong side of age and it is my desire to see a united leadership sooner than later”, said an emotionally charged Awasthi.

Several others including Haryana Minister J P Dalal, Pramod Singh, Sunil Khatari and Arun Tomar also spoke on the occasion. Pramod narrated how after seeing IFFCO’s working from close quarters helped him improve at the local level in Uttarakhand.
