It was not easy to meet him, given his preoccupation with the biggest cooperative elections currently underway in more than 36 thousand co-op societies from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in IFFCO. Yet, he readily agreed saying the right to know is of paramount importance in cooperatives.
It bears recall that IFFCO is electing a new Board on 10 May. As a large number of new faces are there in the newly constituted RGB, there is a conjecture that the old guard may not be able to make it.
It was against this backdrop that we interviewed IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi. And without pulling punches, we asked him a whole range of questions but he not duck any. For example, we asked him about a common tendency of a cooperative MD having the same old board again and again and his giving in to this temptation. Please see his answer in the interview.
Since the interview is longish we have decided to first show it in parts and later as a whole.
