IFFCO P R Manager Harshendra Vardhan retweeted MD’s words leading to a debate on social media on whether more and more corporate should move forward to help domestic sports.
Coming to Asian Games, even before arriving in South Korea, the entire Indian contingent was confident of gold medals from kabaddi.
As expected, the men and women squads did the country proud by defending their titles. Iran were at the receiving end in both finals. And with 11 gold medals, nine silver and 37 bronze, India brought the curtain down on their campaign at the 17th Asian Games.
The Iranians in the beginning gave our men a scare of sorts. But it was the women’s team that first beat Iran comfortably 31-21 for their second successive gold at the Games.
However, the men’s final was a nerve-wracking affair with the Iranians leading till the very end. India, who have won every single gold since Beijing 1990, only took the lead three minutes before the finish. They then wrapped up the match 27-25 at the Songdo Global University Gymnasium.
