Fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO has bagged the National Energy Conservation Award 2010 for adopting clean and efficient technologies at its Phulpur unit in Uttar Pradesh.
IFFCO’s complex fertiliser unit in Paradeep, Orissa has also received the “Certificate of Merit for 2010” for conservation of energy, according to the official statement.
The awards constituted by the Power Ministry was presented to the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) on the occasion of the National Energy Conservation Day on December 14.
IFFCO Phulpur unit near Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, is engaged in manufacturing of nitrogenous fertiliser (urea) by using natural gas instead of naphtha.
The Phulpur unit has set up a carbon dioxide recovery unit (CDR Unit) to recover carbon dioxide from the primary reformer flue gases.
Earlier, this year IFFCO also fetched $869,256 from Spain towards sale of its Carbon Credits, the cooperative said.
