In a major move aimed at giving relief to the farmers, IFFCO announced that they have decided not to increase the price of DAP, NPK fertilizers during the Rabi season, no matter what the input cost.
Being a leader in the fertilizer price stabilization in the country, the move is being heralded as yet another example of cooperative commitment to farmers.
“Market reports indicate that the rates of raw materials needed to manufacture DAP or NPK are rising globally and yet the IFFCO has decided to take a financial hit on itself rather than passing the same on to the farmers”, experts opine.
The announcement was made on Sunday. Sharing the news IFFCO MD tweeted, “We at #IFFCO, reiterate that during #rabi season there is no plan to increase MRP of #DAP, #NPK fertilisers. We serve the farmers & aim to reduce input agri cost to farmers & in line with Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji’s plan of doubling the farmers income by 2022”.
It is to be noted that IFFCO provides its services to more than 5 crore farmers through more than 35000 cooperative societies across the country. Old timers recall there had been several occasions in the past as well when IFFCO has decided to guard the price line for poor farmers.
A press release sent to Indian Cooperative reads, “Though there is a huge spike in the cost of raw materials like phosphoric acid & others in the international market, IFFCO’s commitment for farmers service will remain intact”.
IFFCO with 5 manufacturing plants is the leading fertiliser cooperative of the country. IFFCO has also diversified into general insurance, rural telecom, rural retail, Agro Chemicals, food processing & Organics.
