Delegates from all over the country are hitting the capital to take part in IFFCO annual meet slated for 26th May,2010.Details of the meet will be known by the evening but IFFCO officials were busy overseeing the arrangement for accommodating a large number of delegates.
About 40 thousand societies are members of IFFCO and about 700 to 800 delegates are expected to participate in the AGM. Last year’s account and audit is put up in the AGM along with the estimate of the budget for the next year.
It is compulsory on the part of IFFCO to call at least one AGM per year. It is only the
AGM which has the right to pass the budget and decide on the dividend to be given. Also any change in the by-laws to be valid, it has to be rectified by AGM.
The meet will take place in the auditorium of NCUI building and is akin to a national festival both for officials and for delegates. But many delegates complain that AGM has lost much of its sheen as agenda is put up and passed with undue haste. An AGM of the size of Iffco should last at least for the whole day but in reality it starts the business by 11am and winds up by 1 pm after which the delegates and officials are off for lunch.
Hopefully, this time IFFCO will address the concerns of delegates and make them feel that they are part of decision-making process not merely passive recipients.
