IFFCO MD uses PM’s words to his advantage

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi lapped up the utterances related to agriculture by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in “mann ki baat” emphasizing that connecting young farmers to a digital platform is the mission of IFFCO and it would do its bit to realize the dream of a strong India as envisaged by the Prime Minister.

Appreciating PM’s words that the country’s development depends on the development of agriculture Awasthi said the digital platform would offer our farmers the latest technologies and useful exchanges to grow and prosper.

IFFCO is aiming to connect 3 crore farmers to this platform. MD himself asks everyone in his meetings he holds across states to give their mobile number to get connected to the Cooperative Digital Platform. He proposes to cover 125 destinations out of which more than 45 have already been covered. This week he would be in Rajasthan, last week he was in Karnataka.

In his speech PM said “agriculture makes a major contribution to the fundamentals of our country’s economy. Economic prowess of villages imparts momentum to the nation’s economic progress.

Lauding farmers Modi said “Our farmer brothers and sisters have toiled hard to fill our granaries. The hard work of the farmers has resulted in a record production of food grains. All signals indicate that our farmers have broken all previous records.

Modi also thanked farmers for meeting the needs of poor people and cultivating pulse crops on a huge scale. “This is not merely the production of pulses but a yeoman service rendered by the farmers to the poor of my country’, he stated.

Other issues touched upon by him included Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) latest feat, women breaking through the glass ceiling in all walks of life, a clear tilt towards science and technology, digital initiative such as Bhima apps , Swachch Bharat and other issues.
