After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, it was the turn of Mauritius leaders to learn about Nanotechnology from IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi, who was on a visit to the country on the MCAF invite.
Mauritius Cooperative Agricultural Federation (MCAF) is the apex co-op body of Mauritius and it aims to encourage best agricultural practices in the country, among others. Who could have been a better guest than the legendary Awasthi to teach us on best agri-practices’ said one of the organizers.
Awasthi, who was received at the airport by one of the MACF Directors was accompanied by a delegation consisting of IFFCO’s Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar, Cooperative Relation Director G K Gautam and Gautam’s deputy Tarun Bhargava.

Currently busy with the field trails of nano range of fertilizers, IFFCO MD enumerated the benefits of Nano technology and said that they are not only cheap in price but are also good at preserving the health of the soil.
“IFFCO’s field trials on nano fertilizers are showing encouraging results from various parts of the country. The field trials are going on in almost all the states and in several union territories. Presently, the field trails are in progress on farms of over 11,000 farmers”, said the MD on the occasion.
Readers would recall that after setting up Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) in the Kalol Unit and another Nano lab in its Aonla unit, IFFCO announced setting up a Nano Fertilizer plant at its mother unit in Kalol in Gujarat in May. Home Minister Amit Shah is being enlisted to cut the ribbon.
During his visit to Mauritius, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi also used the opportunity to meet Soomilduth Bholah, Minister of Industrial Development and Maneesh Gobin, Minister of Agri-industry & Food Security.
Earlier, the IFFCO delegation was received by Chairman and General Manager of MCAF at Rajeev Gandhi Science Centre, Mauritius. Awasthi and his team is also going to be part of the inauguration of the seedling project by PM of Mauritius.
