Addressing a national level cooperative conference organized by National Cooperative Federation of Nepal (NCF) in Kathmandu on Sunday, IFFCO Managing Director Dr. U S Awasthi called upon cooperatives of Nepal and India to work together to create a better world.
Underlining the crucial role of innovation in raising food production across the globe, Awasthi said that while IFFCO has continuously been working for the welfare of Indian farmers it will be more than willing to help the farmers of Nepal as well.
The conference was inaugurated by Nepal’s Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and poverty alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal, who recently called upon co-ops to invest in industries. The news was widely covered in Indian Cooperative.
Hailing IFFCO MD as a man who has made co-ops enter into industries successfully Padma Kumari Aryal felicitated Awasthi with shawl and memento. Earlier, Awasthi was received at the Kathmandu airport by the Nepalese co-operators in large number. All the top co-operators of the state including Mrs Om Devi Malla, ICA Global Board Member, Keshav Prasad Badal, Chairman, NCF and others welcomed him with warmth and personal touch.
It bears recall that in the aftermath of the calamity of earthquake in Nepal, several Indian cooperatives led by IFFCO had lent a helping hand to Nepalese citizens through its co-op wing NCF.
During the conference, ideas were shared between the two cooperatives on future of agriculture and how IFFCO can help Nepal farmers to increase yield in agriculture. In his tweet Awasthi wrote, “I also had a good discussion with cooperative delegation of #Nepal lead by Shri Keshav Prasad Badal, Chairman, NCF. We shared Ideas on how cooperative movement can be enhanced in Nepal”.
During the conference, IFFCO Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar shared information about new innovative agriculture products and soil nutrients by IFFCO with the delegates present on occasion.
IFFCO Director Cooperative Relation G K Gautam, NCF Chairman Keshav Prasad Badal, ICA-AP Director from Nepal Om Devi Malla and others also graced the occasion.
