At the start of every new year, IFFCO’s Managing Director Dr. U S Awasthi has been penning letters narrating the fertilizer cooperative’s achievements and the challenges confronting it. This year will be exceptional for the IFFCO as it rides high on the success of Nano Urea. The latter a global game-changer has been appreciated in the Indian Parliament as well by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
The IFFCO would not rest content with the success of the Nano range of fertilizers alone, announces the IFFCO MD. “IFFCO is also working on several new technologies which will help in increasing plant productivity and enhanced availability of nutrients to plants This will be cost-effective and thus encourage farmers towards higher profits”, he added.
“IFFCO is committed to the PM’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” as well as dedicated to strengthening the Cooperative movement across the country,” says Awasthi.

I hope that the year 2022 comes with a new dawn in life for our farmers with adaptation of Nano Technology applications in their farming & wish that everyone continues to do the best in life.
I want to extend my heartfelt greetings for the season and appreciate you all for the accomplishments and achievements for the year 2021.The year 2021 has been a great year with mixed feelings as IFFCO successfully introduced World’s first Nano Urea which is the Innovation of the Century for mankind. Our efforts were recognized and highly praised during the First National Cooperative Conference by Hon’ble Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation, Government of India, Shri Amit Shahji. IFFCO was ranked 1st among the top 300 cooperatives of the world on basis of turnover over GDP per capita by 10th edition of World Cooperative Monitor this year. This is a significant accomplishment & moment of pride for the society & entire cooperative fraternity of India. It is worth mentioning that MyGov, the official communication channel of Government of India also gave importance to this news and gave special mention in the official Twitter, Facebook & other Social Media handles.
IFFCO’s foray into the Nanotechnology has been a front-runner for the Fertilizer sector this past year. IFFCO Nano Urea had a positive impact on the Agri-food Sector minimizing problems on environment, human health, thus improving food security & productivity. IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid received brilliant response from the Farmers and Stakeholders around the country. This was all possible due to the hard work and endeavor of IFFCO’s R&D team at IFFCO Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) at our Kalol plant, Scientists/agro-Scientists, Engineers and the Marketing Team. It is worth mentioning that the Field Trials of other Nanotechnology based products such as Nano DAP are also in progress across the country. Our work towards increasing the production of Nano Urea & other Nano Products moving in the right direction.
I am glad to share that recently addressing a question in Parliament about Nano technology, Minister of State of the Ministry of Science & Technology & Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh quoted Recently the IFFCO’s Nano Biotechnology R&D Centre at Kalol, Gujrat has developed Liquid Nano Urea that may be a good substitute for solid Urea, since plants can absorb up to 80 percent of Nano Urea which is in the form of a stable particle as against solid Urea which is absorbed as lon that is unstable”. I am confident that these products have great potential and will be a huge success amongst the farmers across the world. As a farmer owned cooperative institution, it has always been our sincere endeavor to promote farmer’s growth and work towards achieving sustainable agriculture.
We at IFFCO work towards serving the cooperatives & farmers and strive towards achieving the goal set by our Hon’ble Prime Minister for farmer’s income. I would like to add that IFFCO is also committed to the PM’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” and is dedicated towards strengthening the Cooperative movement across the country.

With the return of the new Covid-19 variant called Omicron, we all need to be extra cautious and follow Covid protocol diligently as we all have seen the disastrous effects of the virus. I pray to almighty to keep us all safe during these challenging times and let us hope the world shall be free of COVID-19 pandemic soon.
