Beating giants like Delhi Metro or IBM India, Farmers’ cooperative and the largest producer of fertilizer in the country IFFCO has retained its Business Standard’s ranking this year too. It stands at rank 7 in the list of listed companies-a rare feat for any cooperative.
Unfortunately no other cooperative figures in the list of first 50 companies. IFFCO has retained its Top 10 position out of 200 unlisted companies and is the only cooperative to find a place in the top 50.
Mother dairy run by NDDB-not a cooperative in the true sense stands at rank 48 while Kribhco –another big player in fertilizer and a cooperative stands at rank 66 thereby winning the distinction of being in the first 100.
Business Standard is a prestigious business daily and it comes up every year with latest ranking in different categories of listed as well as unlisted companies.
Sharing the good news Dr. U S Awasthi tweeted on Wednesday “Happy-Pride moment as #IFFCO ranked 7th, retained in Top10 unlisted companies of BS1000 by @bsindia. Congrats to all”.
In another tweet Awasthi said “ #IFFCO retained it’s Top10 position out of 200 Unlisted #Companies in #India @bsindia. Only #Cooperative in Top50.”
IFFCO has beaten many reputed private firms as well as govt subsidiaries to be a front-runner. Private firms include IBM India, Essar Steel, Cognizant etc while those govt companies which trail IFFCO are Hindustan Aeronautics, Nuclear Power Corporation, etc.
It was a day of joy at the cooperative behemoth as scores of his followers began to retweet MD’s statement. One said “Respected Sir, Congratulations. It’s a very remarkable achievement as maintaining d position is bit difficult.”
Another one replied him “@drusawasthi Sir, many many congratulations sir. We are sure that under ur leadership, IFFCO will achieve Ist position in the group.”
