ICA A-P: Coordination Committee formed

iffco-crowd-365-17.1Leaders of cooperative organizations who are affiliated to the International Cooperative Alliance (Asia-Pacific) met in N Delhi last week to deliberate upon the proposed Regional Assembly scheduled to take place in India.

A core committee of four members was formed at the meeting. The Committee would oversee preparations for the event. The four members are Dr Dinesh, Chief Executive of NCUI, Dr G N Saxena, Director of Cooperative Development at IFFCO, Bhima Subramaniyam, MD of NAFSCOB and Shri Bhagawati Prasad, former Chief Executive of NCUI and currently Vice Chairman, CHBFC based in Lucknow.

Representatives of all the thirteen cooperatives including NCDC who are members of the ICA A-P participated in deliberations aimed at making the Regional Assembly a success. Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and Regional Director Balu Iyer were also present in the meeting. .

Readers would recall that in the Bali meeting , the ICA (A-P) Board had passed the resolution for holding the Regional Assembly in India in the year 2016. NCUI President Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav who is set to become a member of the upper house of Indian Parliament soon had strongly mooted the idea of Regional Assembly.

The meeting tentatively decided to hold the show at Hotel Ashoka, which is located at the heart of the capital city Delhi. NCUI will be the chief host and Dr Dinesh has been appointed the point person.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Shri Bhagwati Prasad said ”though the exact date was not finalized we have thought of organizing it during the cooperative week that falls in the third week of November. It could be between  14-18 November 2016”.

Dr G N Saxena said the meeting was the first in a series with sketchy discussions. We hope to move ahead with concrete plans in the days to come. He promised to keep Indian Cooperative informed of events.
