Co-op journo elected to PCI

Cooperative journalist and the editor of popular cooperative news portal www.indiancooperative.com Mr Ajay Jha was elected with the highest number of votes in the Press Club of India election held on Saturday.

PCI an acronym for Press Club is a national body and it’s prestige could be gauged by the fact that even the highest seat of power of the land is keen to keep good relations with the PCI.

Journalists from the newspapers and the electronic media are members of this club. In the event of any national crisis Press Club has the tradition of launching campaigns and becoming a voice of the media.

Speaking on the occasion of the results the new Panel led by the senior journalist Anand Sahay emphasized the need of carrying its glorious traditions into future and warned against making it just a place of wine and dine.

In my association of more than 40 years with the PCI I have personally led several campaigns. We are the guards of the institution of democracy and we have to remain ever vigilant , Mr Sahay added.

As far as Mr Jha’s election is concerned it is a step ahead in the direction of making cooperative an issue of the mainstream media.

Though more than 26 crore people are part of the cooperative movement, the mainstream media has always been ignoring it. Jha’s election would repair the situation as it would propel “cooperative” to the notice of the mainstream media.
