G H Amin the Vice President of National Cooperative Union of India has been elected Chairman of the apex organization of Cooperative Banks of India (COBI) on Monday. Mr Amin replaces Vishwanathan to occupy the highest seat of the COBI.
COBI is headquartered at NCUI complex in Delhi. Top cooperative leaders of the land including NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Padmashri Shivajirao Patil, NAFED Chairman Bijender Singh were among those present on the occasion. The Chief Executive of NCUI Dr Dinesh was the returning officer in the election. He declared Amin unanimous winner.
Talking to Indian Cooperative on phone Mr Amin said that COBI is a prestigious cooperative organization which represents UCBs, cooperative banks of the states, Land Mortgage banks and other national federations.
Amin said that his elevation to the top post would see more active interaction with the RBI and the government on behalf of cooperative banks. The issue of licence of cooperative bank is pending for a long time and it would be my priority to expedite the matter, he said.
Mr Amin would be in the office for a period of five years.
