The Uttarakhand government will soon organize an Inter-State Cooperative Fair at the Parade Ground in Dehradun modelled on the just concluded International Cooperative Trade Fair in Delhi, organized by the co-operative lender NCDC.
The fair will be from 14 to 20 November, which is also known as the cooperative week in the cooperative sector.
Readers would recall that the participation of the Uttarakhand state in first ever International Cooperative Trade Fair was significant huge where its state cooperative minister Dhan Singh Rawat participated actively.
It is learnt that cooperative departments of all states will likely participate in the fair. They will also showcase their products. More than 250 agricultural and other products of cooperatives from states will be displayed.
Besides, the government has also decided to organize fairs at district level which will from 3rd December 2019 to 25th February 2020.
Additional Secretary, Cooperative, B M Mishra informed that a committee has been constituted at the state level in which the Chairman of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank, Dan Singh Rawat has been made convenor and Additional Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Ira Upreti and Deputy Registrar Mangla Prasad Tripathi have been entrusted with the responsibility of Co-Convenor.
Meanwhile, a letter has been sent to RCS of all states for attending the fair and requested them to display the products of their respective states. Space for stalls will be allotted to the state participants. “He said this cooperative fair will also provide markets to cooperative societies of Uttarakhand and other states”, said Mishra.
The dates for organizing fairs at district level have been finalized and the committee has also been formed to oversee the proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Pioneer reports that to promote organic farming in the State, the cooperative department of Uttarakhand would organise fairs in all the districts of the State. The fairs would be held every year in every district of Uttarakhand. As of now the fair is organised only at Dehradun.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the department chaired by the State Minister of higher education, cooperatives and dairy development Dhan Singh Rawat at Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
