The election in Uttarakhand Pradeshik Cooperative Union (PCU) is underway and all the directors to the board have been elected unopposed but it will be officially announced on 28th July 2021 i.e. on Wednesday.
The sources confirmed that the PCU Chairman Pradeep Chaudhary who is a member of the Governing Council of the national apex co-op body NCUI, will no longer be able to retain the top post. Though, he has been elected unopposed as the board member.
It is confirmed that the former Udhamsingh Nagar District President from BJP Ram Mehrotra is all set to take the charge as the new Chairman of PCU. The party has decided his name for the top post, sources confirm. Interestingly, there is news that Mehrotra will be nominated as the delegate to the NCUI. Pradeep Chaudhary may lose this seat also.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Mehrotra said, “It is true that the state top leaders of BJP have selected my name for the top post at PCU but it is yet not confirmed that I will be nominated for the NCUI”.
After analysing the list of elected directors unopposed for the PCU board, Indian Cooperative learnt that half of the elected directors are District Cooperative Banks Chairmen or their wives or their relatives.
For instance, Uttarkashi DCCB Chairman Vikram Singh Rawat’s sister in law (Bhabhi) Shanti Singh, Dehradun DCCB Chairman’s wife Supriya Chauhan, Pithoragarh DCCB Chairman Manoj Singh, Teri DCCB Chairman Subhash Ramola all of them have been elected unopposed as the directors.
Besides Ram Mehrotra, his wife Mamata Mehrotra has also been elected.
It bears recall that the final list of candidates was released on 24th July 2021 and results will be declared on 28 July 2021.
