The B-PACS membership campaign which was conducted in Uttar Pradesh between 1st September 2023 to 30th September 2023 has come out with unprecedented results. The campaign, which was launched by the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has surpassed the prescribed targets.
Against the total membership target of 20 lakh, 26.16 lakh new members were made till September 30, 2023. A total share capital of Rs 63.49 crore was collected from these members.
Under the campaign, 17.33 lakh farmers, 1.56 lakh skilled labourers, 3.92 lakh unskilled labourers, 2.20 lakh cattle rearers and 6,411 fishermen took membership of B-PACS.
“The campaign should be replicated in other states, which can help the new members of PACS to avail the benefits of different initiatives launched under the leadership of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah”, felt several co-operators of the state.
“The Shahjahanpur district stands at top position with a total membership of 1.02 lakh as on 30th September 2023. The district surpassed the prescribed targets. After Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Rampur, Bulandshahr and Baghpat fall in top five. Besides, if we talk about which division is in the topmost position, then it is the Meerut division with a total member of 2.44 lakh till 30th September 2023.
There are 7,348 PACS in Uttar Pradesh. The majority of them are in Azamgarh whereas the smallest number of them is in Ghaziabad.
Buoyed up with the success of the campaign, talking to media persons on Sunday last week, UP Cooperative Minister JPS Rathore said, “B-PACS Membership Maha Abhiyan has created a new milestone and given a new direction to the cooperative movement of the state. The success of the campaign shows that the confidence of the common people in the cooperative sector has increased and will help the state government in achieving a one trillion economy”.
“Through, B-PACS, new farmer members will be provided crop loan facility at a 3 percent interest cheaper rate than other banks and long term loan facility for farm mechanization will be made available for 05 to 07 years. The new members can take the benefit of the central schemes and the quality generic medicines will be made available to the farmers for Jan Aushadhi Kendra at PACS”, he added.
Rathore further added, Drone facility will also be provided to FPOs and PACS and loan facility to street vendors under the PM Swanidhi Yojana will be provided through district cooperative banks.
On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his successful guidance in the great campaign and congratulated the department officials and other concerned cooperatives for this successful achievement.
It is worth mentioning that under the campaign, the State Registrar of Cooperative Societies offices, UP State Cooperative Bank, District Central Cooperative Banks and others took the lead from the front.
