A high voltage meeting of Uttar Pradesh cooperative cell was held at the state office of Bharatiya Janata Party at Lucknow on Monday, in which BJP state President Bhupendra Singh, state general secretary Dharampal Singh, cooperative minister JPS Rathore and other leaders were present.
The local cooperative leaders including PCF Chairman Valmiki Tripathi, UP State Cooperative Bank Chairman Teejveer Singh, UP Co-op cell convenor DK Sharma, Chairman of 10 apex state cooperative federations and others participated in the meeting.
Several issues were on the table including strengthening the cooperative movement of the state. It was decided to form village level co-ops as well as to connect new people with cooperatives.
Soon after the meeting, talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent UP Co-op cell convenor Sharma said, “It was a fruitful meeting and wide-ranging discussions were held on the occasion. Our motto is to empower the cooperative movement of the state and to expand our reach to the grassroots level”.
“Basically, the meeting was organized to provide a platform for an interaction between co-operators and the top state leadership of BJP. During the meeting, it was decided to open new avenues for the cooperative sector in the state”, Sharma added.
UP state cooperative minister JPS Rathore recounted the initiatives taken for boosting the cooperative sector during his tenure. He said, “A campaign will be launched to take cooperatives to all the villages of the state. Cooperatives will also be made a source of employment”.
Meanwhile, the cooperative elections of state level co-op federations in Uttar Pradesh are likely to be held in the month of April which is due for more than three years.
Readers would recall that in the UP state cabinet meeting held a few months ago, the approval was given for doing the computerization of 7479 PACCs of state.
In the first phase i.e. 2020-23, 1500 PACCs computerization will be done and in the second and third phase 2900 and 3000 PACCs will undergo computerization respectively.
