The appointment of Brijbhushan Gairola as the Chairman of the administrative board of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation, which was headed by NCUI-IFFCO Director Pramod Kumar Singh before BJP came into power, has drawn flakes from the Opposition parties.
Earlier, the RCS has taken over the administration but the govt has, through an order appointed Gairola as the head of the administrative board.
The appointment has drawn flakes from the Opposition parties due to the fact that the election of the apex cooperative society is due in the first week of February. Three other members of the administrative board include Matvar Singh Rawat, Deepak Singh and Narendra Singh.
Gairola was also the chairman of Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam Advisory Board. Ghanshyam Nautiyal was the Chairman of the outgoing board, the tenure of which ended in July last year.
Thanking Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Cooperative Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Gairola said, “as the election of UCF is due for February, I will oversee the activities of the federation till then“.
“Just today I have taken the charge as the Chairman of the Administrative board of UCF and it’ is too early to comment on the ongoing activities of the federation. But I promise I will clean up the organization and then talk to you”, said Gairola to this correspondent on the phone.
It bears recall that UCF has seen many ups and downs after the BJP assumed office in the state. Soon after the victory in the assembly polls, the BJP govt removed Pramod Kumar Singh-an avowed Congressman from the Chairmanship of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation (UCF) and put Ghanshyam Nautiyal as the new chairman of the apex co-op body.
Amidst allegations and counter-allegations Singh’s camp feels he was removed from UCF by the government in a pre-planned manner. “Before all else, the government dissolved 97 cooperative societies across 10 districts connected with UCF saying the societies are not doing any worthwhile business with the federation. All these member societies were part of UCF”, they aver.
It bears recall that the election process of different cooperative organizations of the state had begun in July last year. Now the polls of apex cooperatives like Labour, Bank, Housing, UCF and PCF would take place.
Meanwhile, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages from the followers of Brijbhushan Gairola. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited Gairola’s residence and offered him his congratulations. His cabinet colleagues Prashant Pant and Dhan Singh Rawat were present on the occasion.
