Kerala based labor cooperative- Uralungal Labor Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) has once again won the “Skill Promoting Brand of Kerala” award at the Future Kerala Brand Awards, 2018. The event was organized recently at Crown Plaza, Kochi.
Dr T.P.Sethumadhavan, Director, UL Education received the award on behalf of ULCCS from Jeremy Pilmore Bedford, British Deputy High Commissioner, Chennai. The news was shared by ULCCS on its social media handle.
Promising a bright future for skill development and promotion in Kerala, its Chairman Ramesan Paleri and chief executive officer Raveendran Kasthuri recently announced that ULCCS plans to create 25,000 jobs in the IT sector by 2025.
Underlining the scarcity of skilled people in the state, ULCCS is planning to set up a Skill Park in Malabar in association with the National Skill Development Council to train graduates.
It bears recall that recently at the NCUI headquarters in Delhi ULCCS-Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society was accorded membership to the global body ICA in a glittering event. ULCCS became the 13th permanent ICA member from India and the only primary cooperative from the country to achieve this distinction.
ULCCS which was established initially to strengthen construction and infrastructure sectors, is also working on latest fields such as block chain technology, Internet of Things, Infrastructure Management Services, and analytics.
As part of transformation and technology ULCCS gradually diversified into tourism, IT, ITeS, infrastructure, UL Cyberpark, education, skill development, UL foundation, agriculture and dairy business. The growth and success saga of ULCCS has been identified by ICA as a role model for co-operatives so as to scale up across the globe.
