Kerala based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd (ULCCS) is organizing a 48 hour cooperative ‘Hackathon’ in collaboration with International Cooperative Alliance-Asia Pacific (ICA-AP), International Labour Organization, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) and Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM).
The three day event is beginning today that is from 29th April in state at IIM-K Campus.
The objective of this ‘Hackathon’ to allow vibrant minds to work on solutions (based on the co-op model) to tackle some of the 21st century challenges facing the co – operative platform ecosystem.
The Conference will feature paper presentations, panel discussions and a co-operative-based hackathon (Coopathon).
On this occasion about 20 participants from across the Asia-Pacific region will work on addressing challenges facing the regional cooperative movement.
The conference is co-funded by the ICA-EU Partnership on Co-operatives in Development: People Centered Businesses in Action and supported by the ICA Domus Trust.
The selected ideas will be presented before delegates from cooperatives from over 20 countries of the Asia -Pacific region. A cash prize of Rs 60,000 will be given to the winners with the support of KSUM , the release informs.
According to the release, KSUM CEO Dr. Gopinath said organisations have no alternative to using better technologies to be successful. Industry or theme-specific hackathons like the Coopathon will help new entities offer new products, Gopinath emphasized.
A heckathon to be organized on the sidelines of the event, among other things, will also discuss e-governance, member management and communication management in the cooperative sector.
