Grudgingly, Bihar’s Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar invited Biscomaun’s Chairman for consultations and lauded the marketing cooperative for doing an admirable job in easing the crisis of urea in the state.
To solve the ongoing crisis Sunil Kumar Singh, the Chairman is said to have suggested the Minister to write a letter to IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi requesting him for 10 racks of urea immediately. “I had gone along with the MD of Biscomaun to the meeting at Minister’s invitation”, said Sunil.
Listening to his advice the Minister not only wrote a letter to the IFFCO MD and Union Ministry of Chemicals and fertilizers but also ordered installation of two PoS machines at each of Biscomaun sale counters in the state.
It bears recall that 165 sale counters of Biscomaun and that of 50 of the IFFCO e-bazar are the only places where farmers are getting urea at a price of Rs. 265 per bag. Biscomaun, which has not taken a pai from the state govt so far, thanked the minister for ordering installing of PoS machines at its counters, said a press release from the marketing cooperative federation.
It is learnt that except the IFFCO, all other reputed companies are selling urea at the rate of Rs 290 from the rack point. By the time it comes to the market the rate could be anything between Rs 350 to 500.
Biscomaun’s efforts to steady the urea price, for obvious reasons, are not being liked by the local traders. This has led to their ganging up against Biscomaun for stopping them from making easy money in the crisis situation, 
“You will not believe when I would tell you about their misdeeds as they are increasingly trying to stop us selling urea. We tried to rent godowns at least ten times in Katihar and Kishangan and each time the deal was cancelled later on the pressure from local traders. “They offered owners of godowns money for disallowing us to use them”, he said.
On the other hand, the minister lauded the role of the marketing cooperative and said Biscomaun has made all possible efforts to deal with the crisis situation before his officers. The govt has also immediately responded to some other requests of Biscomaun which included security of its staff-members in the wake of uncontrollable crowds at the centres. The minister is believed to have written a letter to the DGP to this effect.
Readers would recall that there are reports of firing at a Biscomaun selling counter in Kaimur where crowds of people wanting to buy urea became uncontrollable. According to a report, a group of people from two neighboring villages clashed in which fire-arms were used, leading to injury to nine farmers.
