Trade Fair: Co-op products draw huge response; Simplydesi a hit

Cooperatives from across the country are registering huge crowds at their respective stalls set up at the India International Trade Fair, which began on 14th November and will last till 27th November.

Co-ops from Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and other states are showcasing their products and witnessing huge footfalls. From NCDC, NAFED, ULCCs, several small handlooms to Bhutico showrooms are participating with enthusiasm.

The presence of co-ops in the trade fair drawing huge crowds. It is being said that the officials of the newly created Ministry of Cooperation took active interest and encouraged co-ops to set up stalls.

Indian Cooperative correspondent Rohit Gupta who was invited to the Trade Fair visited stalls to get visitors’ responses. Talking to Indian Cooperative, Renu Bisht, one of the Nafed officials present on the occasion said, “Our stall is becoming the biggest crowd puller. Onlookers are taking interest in our activities and the products which we are producing. One of the products which is becoming a hit is Nafed Tea.

Kerala based Labour Cooperative ULCCS Business Development Manager Satheesh Kumar informed us that people are showing keen interest in us. “We were not expecting but we are getting a huge response from visitors who were eager to know about the cooperative model and its services to the common public”.

Besides, the newly established Simplydesi Cooperative Society Limited which is being run by the workers of Sahakar Bharati has also set up its stall. “So far we have sold out the products of more than Rs 2 lakh to the visitors and hope the figure will cross to Rs 3 lakh till the last date of the trade fair. The Agarbatti, Fruit Candies, and other products are becoming big hit”, said Pradeep Choubisa, the manager of the stall.

Besides, several small co-ops including Renu Handloom and Handicraft Cooperative (Manipur), Ambpalli (Bihar), Bhuttico (Himachal Pradesh), Bhartiya Farmers’ Cooperative (Nagaland), and other small cooperatives were also active wooing participants.

It bears recall that the IITF was inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Cooperatives BL Verma in the presence of Nafed MD Sanjeev Chadha, NCDC MD Sundeep Nayak, and others.
