Addressed a seminar on Cashless Banking organized by TJSB Sahakari Bank in Mumbai Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh lauded the role being played by co-operative organizations in the cashless campaign.
Radha Mohan Singh said ” NABARD has already conducted 29 regional level and 400 FLC level training programmes. Today they have started their village level training programmes to cover 16000 villages’ across the country”.
The government has announced a lucky draw scheme for people who are making digital payments and the scheme is being backed by a budget of Rs. 125 crore. This will go a long way in promoting digital payments in the country, said Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh during TJSB Sahakari Bank programme.
Several cooperatives including Saraswat Bank, Amul, NAFED and others are promoting the cashless scheme a dream project of PM Narendra Modi in a big way, said Singh.
Saraswat Co-operative Bank has opened 24000 new Bank accounts and 350 POS machines have been installed after demonetization. The bank is also conducting branch wise awareness programmes.
AMUL has opened 5.1 lacs new Bank accounts for their milk producer members, NAFED has procured 932.66 lacs MT of food grains for which it has made 452 crores of cash less payment to the farmers, Said Singh in his long speech.
TJSB Sahakari Bank has opened 9191 new Bank accounts, 16000 users have been registered for their Tranzapp UPI app, 6000 Rupay debit cards, and 350 POS machines have been installed after demonetization.
The bank has conducted more than 10 awareness programmes and auto rickshaw drivers have been roped into it. 15 other cooperative banks have added ATM NFS network and mobile banking on sub-membership model and the bank is acting as a sponsor for all these co-operative Banks.
During the financial year 2015-16, the bank had a business mix of Rs 12,878 crore while it earned a net profit of Rs 100 crore for the sixth consecutive year. It has 115 branches in operation in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Karnataka and other states.
