The Biscomaun election, which saw unprecedented legal hiccups, is finally moving to its logical conclusion. While some of the old guard are not to be found, there are some new names who have found place on the new Board.
The new faces will be Navendu Jha , Chairman of Madhubani District Central Cooperative Bank , Amita Bhushan from Begusarai, Chief of the State Mahila Congress and Panchanan Sharma.
Gopal Giri popularly known as Gandhi of cooperatives and a close aide to the Biscomaun Chairman expresses his confidence that the voting would not be required and all the 17 Board members would be elected unopposed and on the basis of mutuality.
Giri is one of those who is sure to find a berth in the new Governing Council as the Board is called in this case. Ram Babu Singh who jumps at every chance to sing praise in support of Sunil Singh is another sure candidate for the GC.
Some of the old GC members not to be found are Naredra Singh, Ramashray Ram, Nagendra Yadav and Manju Kumar. Some of them could not clear the first round of election on 25th March and some of them are too sick to be in the race.
Sunil Singh remains the king choosing the board to his liking, says an insider. Singh who loves fighting legal battles is busy ensuring a smooth election. He has reportedly convinced the son of Chairman of State Co-op Bank Mr Chaube to withdraw from the fray.
There were two withdrawals on Monday– Dinesh Kumar Singh and Shashi Sekhar Rai. Today is the last day of withdrawal and the list that would emerge by the evening would make it clear if the voting is necessary or not.
About 30 people submitted their nomination papers to contest for a berth on the apex marketing cooperative federation of Bihar on Sunday in Patna.
What has surprised many is the result of the successful delegates’ list announced on 25th March in which only 25% of old faces were to be found. Readers would recall competition bordering on violence taking place in the district of Samastipur, Begusarai and Deoghar on the day of delegates election.
