IFFCO ranked No one Co-op in Top 300 in World

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is ranked Number 1 Cooperative among top 300 cooperatives in the world. The ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. It signifies that IFFCO is contributing significantly to the GDP & economic growth of the Nation.

Co-op Monitor: AMUL retains primacy: ranks 2nd globally

Gujarat based dairy cooperative giant GCMMF which sells its products under the brand name of Amul, has secured the 2nd position in the world top 300 cooperatives. The ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.

Kribhco stands at No 6 globally; reveals World Co-op Monitor

In the list of World Cooperative Monitor report 2022 published by ICA on Thursday, the second largest fertilizer cooperative of India-Kribhco has been ranked at Sixth position in the list of sector rankings.

Primary level co-op ULCCS ranks 2nd in ICA’s Co-op Monitor

World Co-operative Monitor honours a primary level Indian Labour Co-operative, Kerala-based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) with the Second position in the list of Industry and Utilities Co-operatives in the sectoral rankings. ULCCS has been named just below Spain based Corporation Mondragon. This ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. ULCCS bagged the same position in 2018 and 2019.

PM awakened aspirations; co-ops to fulfil them: Shah

Speaking during a co-op conference, Union Minister Amit Shah said “till 2014, India’s population was 130 crores, but the market was only 60 crores, as 70 crore people did not have purchasing capacity. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi opened bank accounts, provided gas cylinders, toilets, electricity, pure drinking water and food grains free of cost to the poor and as a result awakened the aspirations of these people by fulfilling their basic needs.

The cooperatives have the potential to fulfil all these aspirations. Today after fulfilling their primary needs, these people have ambitions to move ahead in life by earning more money and through cooperatives they can fulfil these ambitions.

Ministry creating National Co-op Database; Shah in RS

The Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday said his Ministry has initiated process for creating a National Cooperative database. “Ministry has already started consultations with stakeholders on finalization of various parameters, procedures and processes for inclusion in the database”, said Shah.

The proposed National Database may act as the main planning tool for Central Ministries, State Governments, Cooperative Federations, Co-operators and sectoral institutions like NABARD, etc. for cooperative sector, concluded Shah in his reply

India marching toward an era of co-op villages: Prime Minister Modi

Addressing co-operators on the theme of ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi’ at Mahatma Mandir, in Gandhinagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was happy to note the idea of a model cooperative village is taking roots in the country.

A model co-operative village would cover all economic activities of rural life through co-operatives, said Modi adding that six villages have been identified so far in Gujarat for the purpose.

PM dedicates Nano Urea to nation

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Nano Urea (Liquid) Plant constructed at IFFCO, Kalol. Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendrabhai Patel, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Members of Parliament, MLA, Ministers from the Gujarat Government, and leaders of the cooperative sector were among those present on the occasion.

Only co-op model can usher in inclusive growth: Shah at Nafcub event

The national conclave of National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies (NAFCUB) was inaugurated by Union Home and the first Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday, wherein the Minister said that if we wish to have equitable distribution of wealth, co-op is the only model.

Speaking at the event, Amit Shah said making India a 5 trillion-dollar economy is not that tough but will the wealth creation touch the lives of everyone including the have nots? He said a co-operative model is the only way to have inclusive growth.

Onboarding co-ops on GeM, Shah asks them to get ready as sellers

Onboarding co-operatives on the GeM portal for purchase on Tuesday at a function in New Delhi, Union Minister Amit Shah exhorted them to get ready for becoming sellers also at GeM. There is a huge potential at GeM for co-ops and they must scale up production and quality to qualify for the same, said Shah while requesting Piyush Goyal, Commerce Minister to help co-ops on the supply side.

The minister also lauded co-ops for showing unprecedented enthusiasm in joining GeM and said that big co-op brands like Amul, IFFCO, Kribhco and Nafed have already got on the bandwagon. He said that 45 of the 54 multistate cooperatives have joined, which is a huge achievement. He also informed that from among 589 state co-op bodies, 289 have registered themselves.

Modi as PM, co-ops can’t imagine better times: Shah

Shah was addressing the delegates of co-op credit banks at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on Friday Shah said along with strengthening the agriculture credit framework, it also needs to be reformed. There is a need to work on taking cooperatives to every sector and agricultural credit should only be available through this.

“Today Shri Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister and there can be no better time than now to expand the cooperative sector and make it prosperous. Shri Shah said the vision of the Prime Minister is to bring inclusive economic growth by involving the poorest person and the economic development of the poorest person and this can only be undertaken by the cooperative sector”, underlined Shah.

Shah seeks state co-op ministers’ support in achieving co-op vision

Aware of the fact that the grand vision of cooperatives being conceived by his Ministry, cannot succeed without the support of state governments, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah made an impassioned appeal to state co-op ministers at the inaugural session of a two-day National Conference in New Delhi on Thursday to follow a national roadmap for the development of cooperatives.

Co-op volunteers: Govt aims roping 5 lac interns

In a note AICTE says that Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has approved to use youth–students and recent graduates to be part of various initiatives and schemes of the Ministry through an internship scheme.

A total of 5 Lakh of internship opportunities will be offered by the Ministry of Cooperation through AICTE internship portal in the next phases, reads a note from the AICTE.

The Ministry of Cooperation will use the AICTE Internship portal to engage interns for a period of 2- 6 months for the following tasks: National Cooperative Database, Training Program, PACS Computerization and Model Bylaws.

Prabhu to head Co-op Policy drafting team

The Union Ministry of Cooperation has constituted a National Level Committee for drafting the new National Cooperative Policy Document, which will be chaired by Former Union Cabinet Minister Suresh Prabhu.

The Committee has been asked to submit the final draft within 3 months from the date of its first meeting and it is being said that the first meeting will be held before 15 September 2022. The office order in this regard was released on 2nd September 2022, of which a copy is with Indian Cooperative.

Shah’s Ministry, a step ahead of co-operators’ demands!

It became obvious on the occasion of the 100th International Co-op Day event that the newly formed Cooperation Ministry under Amit Shah is ahead of the thinking of cooperators of the country.

Several leaders spoke before Shah demanding one thing or the other from the Ministry and when Shah’s turn came to make a speech it became obvious that the Ministry had already taken decisions on these issues.
