In a testament to his steadfast clout in the cooperative sector, Bijendra Singh, former President of Nafed, has been re-elected as the president of the Delhi State Cooperative Bank.
This re-election comes in the wake of Singh’s unsuccessful bid to reclaim his chairmanship at Nafed, although he did win an uncontested directorship.
Ch. Sukhbir Singh Panwar was re-elected unopposed as the Vice-President of Delhi State Cooperative Bank.
In the election held on 7th June 2024, Bijendra Singh’s name as President was proposed by Rajendra Kumar Sahu and seconded by Ch. Sukhbir Singh Panwar. Whereas, Panwar’s name was proposed by Bijendra Singh and seconded by Ram Pal Khatri.
Post-election, both Singh and Panwar expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support from their peers and the cooperative community, reaffirming their commitment to advancing the bank’s mission.
The bank’s board consists of 11 elected directors but four seats are vacant. The elected directors are Jag Pravesh, Laxmi Narain Aggarwal, Naresh Kumar, Rajendra Sahu and Ram Pal Khatri.
AK Kaushal was appointed as the returning officer to oversee the election process.
The Delhi State Cooperative Bank Ltd. is a scheduled State Cooperative Bank, established on 2nd April 1921. It has been in existence for more than 100 years. Being a responsive financial institution, it has been providing necessary financial assistance to urban and rural area of Delhi.
